holy shittt， HOLY SHIT！！！！ the ending was a plot twist that I DID NOT SEE COMING！！ i am literally gobsmacked and so bloody excited for the next book in this series！！！ I found this book much better than the first one and even though the romance between one couple was a bit cringe and over the top to the point other love stories weren’t that highlighted， i enjoyed the plot。 This series is much more modern than SJM other series and yet it incorporated a lot of old classy fae stuff。 I enjoyed the fr holy shittt， HOLY SHIT！！！！ the ending was a plot twist that I DID NOT SEE COMING！！ i am literally gobsmacked and so bloody excited for the next book in this series！！！ I found this book much better than the first one and even though the romance between one couple was a bit cringe and over the top to the point other love stories weren’t that highlighted， i enjoyed the plot。 This series is much more modern than SJM other series and yet it incorporated a lot of old classy fae stuff。 I enjoyed the friendships portrayed in this book and how we got a glimpse from other peoples perspectives in life and love。 i found this book to be more progressive in ideals than the other series which made my heart warm and it was so beautiful to see SJM grow as a writer。 in throne of glass some of the plot was predictable and in crescent city it is like you’re on a roller coaster and you’re not sure when you’re gonna be surprised by the next bump。 I really like how she has tied aspects of all her books together in one way or another and i can’t wait for her next release！！！ 。。。more

Sarah Maas has followed her formula that she has perfected since the Throne of Glass series。 Write a really long book with a powerful female lead character that drags out way too long only to finish with a bang。 I don't know why I keep coming back， but I guess it's the big finishes of each book。 I won't spoil， but a major plot point was just cast aside 3/4 through the book。 Such wasted time for nothing。 It really feels like she's writing to try to get her stories made into a Netflix series。 Each Sarah Maas has followed her formula that she has perfected since the Throne of Glass series。 Write a really long book with a powerful female lead character that drags out way too long only to finish with a bang。 I don't know why I keep coming back， but I guess it's the big finishes of each book。 I won't spoil， but a major plot point was just cast aside 3/4 through the book。 Such wasted time for nothing。 It really feels like she's writing to try to get her stories made into a Netflix series。 Each book is drawn out to be a season of a show。 I'll probably read the next book in the series， only because of the ending of this one， but I'm growing tired of the Maas formula。 Hopefully， she can draw me back in， and provide a compelling story from start to finish without the fluff。 。。。more

After reading House of Earth and Blood， and not enjoying it - I did say I wasn’t going to continue on with this series - but here we are。。 so many people said book 2 was so much better and then I got FOMO and me and Natalie @stitch_and_reads decided to dive into book 2 with another Buddy Read together 🫠I can confidently say that I am not the right audience for the works of SJM。For a book of 800 pages， I found that not much actually happened - again， like book one， the action scenes were lacking After reading House of Earth and Blood， and not enjoying it - I did say I wasn’t going to continue on with this series - but here we are。。 so many people said book 2 was so much better and then I got FOMO and me and Natalie @stitch_and_reads decided to dive into book 2 with another Buddy Read together 🫠I can confidently say that I am not the right audience for the works of SJM。For a book of 800 pages， I found that not much actually happened - again， like book one， the action scenes were lacking and there is just so much detail， but it doesn’t make it any better， it completely detracts from what is actually happening and I’d find myself completely lost and the amount of characters too， I just can’t keep track。The sewer demon scene had potential， it was dark and gnarly， until the mention of Bryce’s hot pink sneakers。 This is just one example of many， with details that made me go “why is that important， who cares”。Give me a SJM book， with just the Fire Sprites and I’d be all for that though 🔥🧚‍♀️ 。。。more

Last 15% of this book is the one thing that will have me reading book 3。 After loving book 1 more than air， this was a plotless let down。 Didn’t feel a connection with the most of characters， too many POVs， literally forced myself to thru it at points。 I get that this is a transitional novel but it just felt pointless for 80% + of the book。 Disappointing。

NO FUCKING WAY。 Just finished the book and OH MY GOSH/&！:$/&/ I am so excited that Bryce ended up with RHYSAND/&:&:$ overall the book had a lot of stuff that I didn’t really like。 I felt like Sarah manipulated the characters in ways that didn’t feel like them at all。 The first half of the book was good and then the second half kinda got stupid but the ending was AMAZING。 That’s why I gave it a 3 😁
